RPX Women's Delegation WELCOMED

During
a recent international exchange facilitated by RPX,
women leaders from Belarus were received by Patricia
Davis, who serves
as the Director of Global Programs in the
US State Department's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights,
& Labor (DRL). During the meeting, Yelena
Razladova and Irina Zhakar, civic leaders trained by RPX
to advocate for women's rights, presented Davis with
their model for women-led health policy reform
in Belarus and discussed opportunities to apply the
model in other regions.

FOOD DONATION IN TAJIKISTAN

Tajikistan –
Ambassador Ken Gross,
Deputy Minister of Health Sohibnazar Rahmonov and Firuza
Abdullaeva of the Tajik charitable organization ‘Avesto’
presented 9,800
kilograms of lentils and vegetable soup mix to patients
at Tajikistan’s National TB Hospital today as a part of
a United States Agency for International Development
(USAID) funded program. USAID, in cooperation with
Avesto and the American organization Resource and Policy
Exchange, Inc. (RPX), has distributed over 37 metric
tons of enriched food supplies to date to over 22,000
people across Tajikistan.

MILLION MEALS IN KYRGYZSTAN:
Women, children, mentally disabled
receive emergency food aid
Bishkek,
Kyrgyzstan – Representatives of RPX,
USAID and the Government of Kyrgyzstan announced the
arrival of 40 metric tons of US donated food assistance
to the people of Kyrgyzstan during a press conference at
the Ministry of Labor and Social Development in Bishkek
on Wednesday. The donated food, manufactured by
Breedlove Dehydrated Foods (Lubbock TX) arrived shortly
after the UN announced a dangerous winter food shortage
in the mountainous Former Soviet republic. RPX and local
partner organization Public Foundation Ergene will
distribute food to 24 institutions throughout
Kyrgyzstan, focusing on the nutritional needs of women,
children, and patients with chronic mental illnesses.
RPX is delivering a similar food donation to the
neighboring Republic of Tajikistan.

CHAIRMAN PRESENTS
$240,000 DONATION IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC:
Children's Hospital receives medicine and
equipment
Santiago,
Dominican Republic – RPX Chairman
John Leddy joined Rotary volunteers to present a
$242,640 donation of essential medicines to Arturo
Grullon Children's Hospital in Santiago. RPX also
provided 30 otoscopes and the latest pharmaceutical
manuals to enable effective prescribing practices.
The delivery was made possible with shipping support
from US non-profit organization,
Ayudamos Carib of Petoskey, Michigan. Gift
in kind donations were generously provided by
Project HOPE,
Bristol Myers Squibb,
Dr. Mom Otosopes
and
Wolters
Kluwer publishing.

MADRID CONFERENCE:
IPOS sponsors World Congress
Delhi,
NY – RPX assisted Public Fund
Ergene in the analysis of palliative services for cancer
patients and psycho-oncology development in Kyrgyzstan.
Results of the analysis were presented at the
International
Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) World Congress in
Madrid from June 9-13. RPX promotes the provision
of palliative care for late stage oncology patients as a
basic human right. Next steps under this campaign include developing
cost effective palliative services for implementation in
Central Asia.

RPX TEAM ATTENDS GLOBAL
HEALTH COUNCIL CONFERENCE:
DC Conference assembles international
leaders in global health

NY – RPX participated in the
annual Global
Health Council International Conference in
Washington DC from May 28 - June 1. The event provided
RPX, a GHC member organization, with an opportunity to
develop linkages and collect materials to be used in
Africa under new RPX programs in Rwanda and Uganda.

hosted a weeklong visit by veterinary specialist Maripa
Kichinebatyrova from the Ministry of Agriculture in the
Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

RPX EMERGENCY RELIEF DONATION TO KYRGYZSTAN:
Food and medical supplies aids earthquake
victims
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan - On April 29 a press conference
was organized at the Ministry of Emergency on the
arrival of humanitarian food assistance and medical
supplies valued at about $150,000 that has been provided
to the victims of the earthquake in Southern Kyrgyzstan.

REPRESENTS BELARUS AT BERLIN CONFERENCE:
Meeting brings together development groups from Europe
Minsk,
Belarus –
Newly founded NGO,
Europa Donna Belarus, was invited to represent its
country at the 6th Annual European Breast Cancer
Conference in Berlin. The Belarusian women's
group, which was launched with support from US NGO and
partner, Resource & Policy Exchange, met with other
organizations focused on improving breast cancer
education and treatment.
